No Sleep Tonight

Leaving my family in Limoges I boarded a coach to the nearby city of Toulouse.

Now my previous coaches have all started their journey from the stop I got on at but this one didn’t. So, when it got to the departure time and the bus still hadn’t arrived, I was getting a bit worried that I wasn’t in the correct station; it didn’t help that it was absolutely chucking it down and the only shelter was leaking! Luckily it was only a couple of minutes late so I got on first to secure my seat expecting it to be packed. But being one of 7 on a coach made for 100 is not exactly busy.

Getting down to Toulouse seemed to be quite a challenge for the driver as we had to contend with pouring rain and even lighting strikes that appeared right next to the bus. Not sure if they were though. For some unknown reason, the further south we got, the clearer the skies got until by about 8pm it was actually sunny. Then I arrived in Toulouse…

Toulouse is wet. Very wet. And had quite a bit of thunder and lightning too. Due to this, I decided to stay in the bus park until my coach to Barcelona arrived which happened to be about 2 and a half hours. In that time, I helped an American couple find their bus and convinced one man to play a bit on his guitar. I ended up singing with him on some songs, stuff like Bob Marley, Jack Johnson and even Shaggy!

This was the first bus with assigned seating so after much confusion everyone found their seats and the bus set off. My intention was to sleep for the next leg until Barcelona but apparently my body does not work like that and I only kipped for about an hour and a half. Strangely, by the time I got off the coach I was wide awake. Luckily though, the girl sat next to me started chatting with me, and we talked about music and some upcoming rave festival thing, that was why she was going to Barcelona.

The bus pulled into it’s final stop and we all got off. I said goodbye to my bus companion and made my way into the heart of Barcelona.

I took a slow wander in the direction of my hostel as 6am is a bit too early to check in but I did find a few cool spots that, luckily, were pretty clear of tourists at this time in the morning.
